“Rootless” is simply a more charming way of saying “homeless” I suppose.
It has been quite sometime since I last wrote, I have wrapped up my time abroad, with the last three weeks spent backpacking the North Island of New Zealand. I spent time at AirBnBs, hostels, and the occasional hotel as Emily and I lived out of our backpacks.
When I returned, my family had moved from our home in Woodinville Washington, to Gig Harbor. It was strange not to come home to my actual house but I have definitely gotten used to change. I spent a week in Tucson, and a couple more weeks in Gig Harbor, before returning to California for school. Unfortunately my housing for this school year doesn’t begin until February, so I have spent the past couple of weeks crashing on a friends couch. And thus, for the past few months I have been rootless, roaming from place to place it seems. My hope is that I will learn to prioritize the necessities more, as I cut back more and more on the things that tie me to places. But my god I will never take for granted having my own bed again.
